Some Sweet Relief 08.25.08

Speck Mountain has just completed the follow-up to their much-loved debut, Summer Above. To be released in spring, ’09 on new home, Carrot Top Records. Some Sweet Relief finds the young band exploring themes of conflicted desire, and working in a wider range of styles than the dewy space-pop by which they made their name. If you want a preview, one of the album tracks, “Shame on the Soul”, is available for download at daytrotter.com, along with live versions of some older jams. Speck Mountain is preparing for a host of North American and European dates in the coming months, with help from new keyboardist/secret weapon Jenny Boeder, who also will be enriching the sets with her golden-throated harmonies…And look out for some entirely new projects, brewing in the Burnt Brown labs, as we speak.
